Care-taker Federal Minister for Water Resources, Mr. Ahmad Irfan Aslam is addressing a ceremony for Water Festival and Technology Fair, organized by the PCRWR in collaboration with UNICEF in the wake of Pakistan Water Week 2023, on December 07, 2023 in Islamabad.

 

GOC 45 Engineers Division Major General Yasir Ilahi called on Secretary Ministry of Water Resources, Syed Ali Murtaza on 17 November 2023. Installation of telemetry system in the Indus Basin Irrigation System was discussed. The Secretary MoWR apprised the GOC 45 Div about the updates on installation of the telemetry system on the seven key sites. He highlighted that by the installation of the telemetry system water accounting of the Indus system of rivers will become more transparent and would lead to take informed decisions about planning and development of water resources in future
The GOC 45 Div appreciated the initiative of the MoWR. He emphasised that given the importance of the telematic monitoring of water distribution for irrigation, it would be appropriate to go for installation of the telemetry system on all the distribution sites of the Indus Basin Irrigation System. The Secretary MoWR assured that the Ministry will take all the steps expeditiously to take into account the requirement of installation of telemetry system at all the distribution points of Indus Basin Irrigation System where water distribution is governed by Indus River System Authority.

A high level UN mission led by H.E. Inger Andersen, Executive Director UNEP visited Ministry of Water Resources, Government of Pakistan. Meeting was informed about the work to be undertaken by UNEP in the context of floods and climate change in Pakistan.
