INTRODUCTION

  • Dasu Hydropower Project is a run off river project on Indus River located 7km upstream of Dasu Town, District Kohistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The site is 74 km downstream of proposed Diamer Bhasha Dam site and 350 km from Islamabad.
  • Dasu Hydropower Project will have total installed capacity of 4320 MW with 12 generating units and is among the priority projects under the National Power Policy 2013 and Vision 2025 of Government of Pakistan.
  • Project will be implemented in two Stages. Each Stage with 6 units will have capacity of 2160 MW. About 12 Billion Units would be generated annually on completion of Stage-I being in implementation stage.
  • PC-I of Project (Stage-I) for Rs. 486,093 Million approved by the ECNEC in March 2014.
  1. CURRENT STATUS
  • LAND ACQUISITION
  • Total land required for Project is 9917 acres. Out of which, 2029 acres is required for Preparatory & Main Civil Work on priority basis and remaining land falls in reservoir area to be acquired at later stage before impounding.
  • Out of 2029 acres, 633.78 acres of land has been acquired to-date and possession handed over to Contractors. Remaining land will be acquired by end of Jan 2018.
  • World Bank has extended the deadline till November 20, 2018 to utilize the funds allocated in IDA-1 Credit in respect of land acquisition payments.
  • WORKS
  1. Preparatory Works: WAPDA has awarded 5 Nos. Contracts related to Relocation of KKH, Access Roads and 132 KV Transmission Line. Contractors for 03 Contracts (KKH-01, RAR-01 & TL-01) are mobilized at Project Site and carrying out construction activities. Contracts of KKH-02 and RAR-02 signed and commencement will be issued soon.Bids for Project Colony & Dasu-RV (Resettlement Villages) opened on November 22, 2017. Evaluation of Bids is in progress.
  1. Resettlement Works: 3 Nos. Contracts of Resettlement Sites have been awarded and signed with Chinese firms. Contractors will mobilize at Project site soon.
  • Main Civil Works: Main Civil Works Contracts awarded to M/s CGGC, China. Contract Agreement signed on March 08, 2017. Contractor has commenced the services and mobilized at Site w.e.f June 23, 2017. Construction activities on Access Roads (CR-1&CR-2) to Diversion Tunnels Inlet and on adit are in progress.
  • Electro-Mechanical Works:Bidding Documents issued to Prequalified Applicants on August 9, 2017. Bid submission / opening date extended till January 10, 2018.
  1. FINANCING FOR PROJECT
  2. World Bank
  • Agreement between the Government of Pakistan, WAPDA and the World Bank for IDA-1 Credit of US$ 588.4 Million along with an IDA PCG of US$ 460 Million signed on August 25, 2014. Loan Agreement is effective since November 20, 2014. Loan is valid till June 30, 2022.
  1. Local Commercial Banks
  • Agreement with Local Commercial Banks led by M/s HBL for financing upto Rs. 144 Billion signed on March 29, 2017. 1st tranche of Rs. 25 Billion has been received in May 2017.
  • Foreign Commercial Bank
  • Agreement with M/s Credit Issue Bank for US$ 350 Million Credit signed on June 29, 2017. 1st tranche of US$ 188 Million received on June 30, 2017.
